Every human being carries an inner yearning to connect with something greater than themselves. Across cultures and centuries, this longing has often taken the form of religion — systems of belief and practice meant to explain and contain the mystery we feel within.

Spiritual Champion seeks to step beyond those systems. It is not about rejecting religion, but about exploring our Spiritual Self without being confined by doctrine, dogma, or denominational rules. This approach allows us to experience the reality of Spirit directly — to sense and live it — without the weight of rigid definitions.

The program does affirm a central truth: that a force, presence, or being beyond our own nature gave rise to all that exists. But it does not demand allegiance to any single religion or denomination to embrace that truth.

Its purpose is simple: to help you better understand and connect with your Spiritual Self. My hope is that this understanding brings peace where questions have caused confusion, and clarity where religious structures have created barriers.

I believe, without hesitation, that there is a force beyond this life with which we can connect and from which we can receive guidance. Spiritual Champion is designed to help you discover and strengthen that connection — not through rules or rigid philosophies, but through direct experience of the Spirit that is already within you.

The Spirit Within

The Spirit Within is a new book that invites you to discover the center of everything — the Spirit already alive within you. It does not ask you to abandon your faith tradition or adopt a new one. Instead, it helps you move past confusion and into clarity, showing how the presence within can guide your thoughts, steady your emotions, and bring peace to your life. Whether you stand inside religion or outside it, this book offers a path back to the center: the Spirit that has been with you from the beginning.  You can order The Spirit Within and other books by clicking here.

The Four Dimensions of Life

To understand ourselves fully, we must recognize that we are more than a body, more than a mind, more than our feelings, and even more than our longing for the Spirit. Each of these dimensions — physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual — works together to form the whole of who we are. When they are in balance, guided by the wisdom of the Spirit within, we live with greater clarity, strength, and peace.

Our Physical Self

To live on this planet, we need what I call an EarthSuit. It lets us breathe the air, eat the food, and move about in this world. Like a car we step into and drive, the EarthSuit is our vehicle for life. Without us inside, it’s only matter — part of the planet, but without meaning or direction. Our Physical Self is the part of us that connects to the natural world, but it is not the whole of who we are.

Our Intellectual Self

Inside the EarthSuit is the brain. It not only keeps the body running but also enables us to think, reason, and analyze. Our Intellectual Self allows us to examine the world, form ideas, and imagine what lies beyond. At its best, it brings clarity and insight. But it must stay aware of the impulses of our Emotional Self, and it often tries — sometimes awkwardly — to explain the mystery of our Spiritual Self. Our intellect is powerful, yet it still operates within the boundaries of our earthly experience.

Our Emotional Self

Our Emotional Self is the reactive part of our nature. Emotions drive us forward — sometimes into joy, sometimes into fear, sometimes into actions we would never take otherwise. They give passion to our lives, but they can also lead us astray. Emotions must be tempered by reason and guided by wisdom. When they are, they become one of our greatest strengths. Left unchecked, they can attempt to explain or control our Spiritual Self in ways that fall short.

Our Spiritual Self

Beyond the physical, intellectual, and emotional dimensions lies something more: our Spiritual Self. It is the part of us that senses a deeper reality, a wisdom that cannot be fully explained. We know — often without words — that life carries meaning beyond what we can see and measure.

Religion has been humanity’s attempt to interpret this inner awareness. It has given us stories, doctrines, and gods to ease our longing for answers — about why we are here, what guides us now, and what happens when the EarthSuit wears out. But religion can both illuminate and distort.

The true gift of the Spiritual Self is not in certainty, but in wisdom. It is that wisdom which can steady our emotions, inform our intellect, and remind our physical nature of its greater purpose. When we honor the Spirit within, it becomes our compass, guiding every other part of who we are.

About Larry G. Patten

Larry G. Patten’s life has been shaped by both struggle and discovery. From a difficult childhood to a lifetime of seeking meaning, he has come to believe that the Spirit within each of us is the true center of life. Over the years, Larry’s journey has taken him through classrooms, boardrooms, pulpits, and studios — as a teacher, broadcaster, leader, and author.

Along the way, he earned a BBA in Business Administration, an MA in Educational Administration, and a Doctorate in Divinity, grounding his search for truth in both study and experience. He has written more than a dozen books on spirituality, personal growth, and transformation, each one conveying the same message: the Spirit is already within us, waiting to guide us into love, freedom, and peace.

Today, Larry shares his story and insights through books, seminars, and coaching, helping others find balance across the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of life. His hope is simple — that others may discover the clarity, strength, and connection that come from living from the inside out.
